14 Aug 2009 Disturbing forest news!

There will be a climate change conferance in Denmark, Copenhagen between the 7-18 December 2009.

There people will decide a lot of crazy things that eventually will effect us all. As usually this decisions are made with out most public knows about it or know the effects of what this people gathering together have in the mind.

So the disturbing news that just reached us is that this time they will make a new definition of what a forest is.

What is a forest for you?
Think about it...
How do you like the forest to be in the future...

Kyoto Forest is defined as "a minimum area of land of 0.05-1.0 hectares with tree crown cover (or equivalent stocking level) of more than 10-30 per cent with trees with the potential to reach a minimum height of 2-5 meters at maturity in situ. A forest may consist either of closed forest formations where trees of various storeys and undergrowth cover a high portion of the ground or open forest. Young natural stands and all plantations witch have jet to reach a crown density of 10-30 per cent or tree high of 2-5 meters are included under forest, as are areas normally forming part of the forest area witch are temporarily unstocked as result of human intervention such as harvesting or natural causes but witch are expected to revert to forest."

For me a forest is a big area of different trees and animals and plants living together. Not a plantation with just one type of tree for example... or a bag full of seeds with the potential to become a forest.
